Based off my experience, I advise people to bring any and all electronics from the US. I have my home theater, DVD players, Wii, GameCube, kitchen appliances etc all working fine. I have found that electronics are the cheapest in the USA (best selection, best deals). India is at least 30%, sometimes over a 100% more expensive so it is advisable to bring your existing electronics (and even electricals) and possibly even purchase new ones to transport to India.
